Carbon Sequestration

Carbon sequestration is the process of capture and long-term storage of atmospheric carbon dioxide to either mitigate or defer global warming and avoid dangerous climate change. It has been proposed as a way to slow the atmospheric and marine accumulation of greenhouse gases, which are released by burning fossil fuels.

Social

Forest Preserves

A forest or nature preserve is a protected area of importance for wildlife, flora, fauna or features of geological or other special interest, which is reserved and managed for conservation and to provide special opportunities for study or research.

Serving Communities

GFP recognizes that social responsibility in our investment geographies is a key part of our mission. GFP investments support the funding of educational initiatives in developing communities such as the Peten region of Guatemala. GFP’s partners and investors together contributed to rebuild housing and infrastructure in the wake of the 2010 Chile earthquakes which impacted key Chilean forestry investment areas. Our investments create stable employment in forestry, job training and improved living conditions in many areas where economic opportunity might otherwise be difficult to find.

GFP Supports Local Charities

GFP employees and partners are active supporters of charities and non-profit groups in the Upper Valley region of Vermont and New Hampshire. These include the Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth (CHaD); the Upper Valley Haven, a homeless shelter and pantry; the Montshire Museum of Science; the New Hampshire Community Development Finance Authority, and many others.
